We have a drummer for the Fall! We are excited to have Brad McNeil onboard with Flatlined for the fall UNITY TOUR with rapper Tokn and THE BLIND ASSASINATION TOUR with Toybox. We will be heading both East and West this fall with Brad. We haven't had a chance to jam with him yet (I write this from the West, still on the road acoustic) but he plays in the band Influation from Nigara Falls - so anyone that has seen a show in St. Catharines ever will know he is one hell of a drummer. He sounded very excited on the phone to use some time off to travel the country with us!

Some people said they saw this coming, but I certainly didn't. Our drummer Dean has decided to not come on tour with Flatlined We are pressing ahead acoustic. Perseverence will prevail I am sure - but I hope people aren't dissapointed with the rushed acoustic set we are preparing for the road. If we had more warning we might have included some piano into the set, or even been able to find a replacement drummer. I hope we will get to see you all regardless, and you enjoy the Flatlined experience acoustic!

I gota write more here...

Fun stuff always seems to follow bands around. I don't really have any specific to talk about - but rather everything all at once. How peculiar we can travel from town to town, meeting people who can easily become best friends by the end of the night. If we are lucky we stay the night, but it always ends in an almost sad goodbye in the morning. Then we move on and do it again. I see exactly how most people view a band as a rolling party - its meet and greet and dissapear.. I wonder if we represent a form of "mini-vacation" for the new friends we meet. I try to keep up with them, but it gets hard sometimes. But it is always fun when we come back - which is why I love touring more and more each time. Can't wait to do it all again next week - it is my happiest time on earth.

The Album Release... Finafuckingly

It has only taken a year and a half, but we are finally going to release our first disk on a label this Tuesday. I gota say - it feels pretty sureal. So much shit has happened making this record I am convinced that we are the luckiest band alive to have made it. There is a lot of ego to deal with in this business - but I feel pretty content about the whole situation. Actually scratch that. I am scared shitless. We have spent every dime we have getting to this point and there is nothing left! If our van breaks we are fucked, if bars don't want to pay us enough for gas and food to the next show we are fucked, if people don't buy the shirts we will never be able to afford the costs behind more singles and we are fucked... Everything is at its most scarey. Its make or break. Guess the only thing left to do is work like I do everyday.. I guess what I am trying to get off my mind is in the shadow the most impressive thing we have ever done as a band is the tattered group of dudes left penniless in its wake... hoping to shit that all this works this Tuesday. I have already reached my goal though, and that was that everyone that has the disk likes it. Thats a real reward

The trouble with groundhogs...

Our last tour was our first time driving all the way across Canada. None of us had before been to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta or BC... And if you ever get the chance to take the drive you will probably notice the whole place has really awesome animals.. We dubbed our last tour the Awesome Animal Tour. And it didn't end for me there... When I got home I found a groundhog living in my backyard! Groundhogs are one of my favorites of the retarded animals... The retarded animal grouping comes from types of animals that consistantly have a retarded look on their face. The moose, the groundhog, the prarie dog (well actually prarie dogs are just plan retarded...) A ground hog will stand in the middle of a lawn looking at you deciding if you can see it... The thing never seems to realize its a 40 pound brown object in the middle of a green lawn - of course you can fucking see it! When they figure this little bit of intraspective science out they always believe if they get lower to the ground that will somehow allow them to magically change colour.. Not true again retarded groundhog! But I am not trying to catch the thing, only watch it... So it is actually getting used to me. The trouble with groundhogs is they dig up roots. They like fucking with large roots too, the kind of roots a plant needs...Why can't they just fuck with those annoying pricker weeds that always spring up in the middle of the lawn when you are walking around barefoot in the awesome summer?

I was thinking about movie music...

I was thinking today about movie music. I have been trying to write acoustic compositions based on mood, and attempting to tell a story through the music alone. It got me thinking about movie compositions. I believe that movie music is the new opera and the new symphony combined. Its really the only large scale mood music left... But instead of opera singers we have actors, and instead of a conductor we have a director. But the music behind is still written the same I believe... The composer must think in his head what type of music makes me believe that hobbits are climbing a mountain in slow motion, or that a ship is exploding and unless our hero runs really fast he is going to blow up with it... I realized I had never pictured something in my head and then started a composition. I had only ever thought of a mood or visual concept until after the writing had begun and the song was almost formed. This new way of writing has opened some awesome doors and I can`t wait to show off the results.
